STEP UP & SERVE

Kid’s Ministry

Introducing young people to Jesus is one of the greatest joys you’ll ever experience. The kids ministry is looking for volunteers of all kinds: from baby cuddling in the nursery, to cut & paste with the preschoolers, silly games & bible stories with primary kids, and deep questions with the tweens. The classes have both lead teachers and support helpers so anyone can participate. No previous training is required, but all volunteers will participate in the child worker screening process, safety checks & training videos required by The Salvation Army.  If you are interested in helping with this type of ministry, please email Norma Armellini (norma.armellini@salvationarmy.ca).

Hospitality

There are a variety of ways to serve in hospitality from preparing the coffee & tea for a Sunday church service, helping to serve food & refreshments at our Family Life Centre programs, to greeting and answering questions for newcomers.  The payoff is a warm, friendly environment where everyone feels welcome and cared for.  If you are interested in being involved in one of these areas, please email Norma Armellini (norma.armellini@salvationarmy.ca).

Christmas Kettles and Santa Shuffle

We always need help for our annual Christmas Kettles during November and December.  Closer to the time, we will post information on our social media that lists the locations our kettles will be at and the timeslots available for volunteering.  It is a great way to connect with your community and also help to raise funds that are used to enable our Family Life Centre to continue to provide much-needed support in our community!

In early December each year, we organize and operate the annual Santa Shuffle in Langley (www.santashuffle.ca).  This is part of a long-standing partnership between The Salvation Army and The Running Room to host a fun-run in locations across Canada, with the funds raised in Langley being used to support ongoing community programming and support at our Family Life Centre.  Every year we need people who are willing to volunteer a few hours and help with the running of the event; from helping serve a pancake breakfast for participants, assisting with set-up and tear-down, or helping direct runners along the route as a race marshal.

If you are interested in volunteering in these events, please contact Norma Armellini (norma.armellini@salvationarmy.ca) for more information.
